【答】當(dāng)看到主句中的would have given這一虛擬形式時(shí)，就應(yīng)想到to have been able一定跟非真實(shí)條件有關(guān)。完成體不定式（to have been able）更能顯性地表示與過(guò)去事實(shí)相反的條件。上面句子的意思是：要是那時(shí)我能夠取消整個(gè)這件事的話，那我是多大的犧牲都愿做出來(lái)的。

I’ll thank you not to follow me (=if you do not follow me).

To survive (=If we are to survive), we must have food.

P1044:不定式短語(yǔ)表示非真實(shí)條件。

It would be easier to do it this way (=if we were to do it this way).

To look at him (=If you were to look at him), you could hardly help laughing.

To hear him speak English (=If one were to hear him speak English), one would take him for an Englishman.
